Parent FAQ

What ages is this class for?

Children ages 3–5 are welcome.

Does my child need any experience?

No experience is necessary. Most of our students are trying Capoeira for the very first time.

Does my child need to be potty trained?

No. Children do not need to be potty trained to participate. We have a family restroom and changing table available at the studio. We do ask that a parent or guardian remain available during class in case their child needs assistance with diaper changes or using the restroom.

Does my child need a uniform?

No special uniform is required to get started. Children should wear comfortable clothing they can move in, along with a water bottle. If your child continues in the program, we'll let you know about Capoeira uniforms and other optional gear.

How long are classes?

Classes are typically 40–45 minutes, though they may end a little earlier or run a few minutes longer depending on the day's activities and the energy of the class. After our structured class time, we often gather for a short story or a small snack before heading home, giving families a chance to relax and connect.

Can parents stay and watch?

Absolutely! We ask parents and caregivers of preschoolers to stay and watch every class. We encourage families to help model participation by joining in during the music portions: clapping, singing, and keeping the rhythm. When space and class size allow, you may even be invited to participate in certain movement activities alongside your child.

Your encouragement helps create a fun and supportive learning environment.

What if my child is shy or has trouble separating?

That's very common at this age! Every child adjusts at their own pace, and both children and parents need a few classes to settle into a new routine.

Our classes are designed with lots of different ways for children to participate. Some kids are excited to jump right into the Capoeira movements, while others are more comfortable starting with the obstacle course, singing, playing music, or simply observing.

There are many entry points into the class, and every child is encouraged to participate in the way that feels right for them.

The class naturally changes activities about every 15 minutes or so—moving between music, movement, games, obstacle courses, and group activities—which helps keep young learners engaged and gives children multiple opportunities to join in throughout the class.

Our goal is to create a gentle, low-pressure environment where children can build confidence at their own pace while discovering the joy of Capoeira.

How much does the session cost?

The Early Bird rate is $280 for the full 10-week Fall session. Space is limited, so we recommend registering early.

When does the next session run?

The upcoming Fall session runs Saturdays from August 22 through October 24, 2026.
